PERSONAL INFORMATION
Image:
Appearance: The first thing that stands out is Edwin's constantly messy jet black hair, which looks constantly like bed hair. Even in the rare times he can be bothered to try and tidy it up, it seems to spring back to being messy again within minutes. He has dark brown (almost looking black) eyes, often having sunken bags under his eyes. He is short-sighted and wears corrective glasses with a rope to keep them around his neck (not seen in the above image), almost always being seen wearing them. He has very pale skin, and this as well as his habits of spending lots of time in dark places have given rise to some unkind rumours about him having vampire heritage. As far as anyone (including Edwin himself) knows, this is untrue.
He is typically seen wearing the general IACSB trench-coat and suit uniform, partially out of liking the look and partially out of being too lazy to care about wearing anything else. If something more casual is needed, he tends to wear denim jeans, a solid-colour shirt and an zip hoodie (which is usually open) with a pair of blue-and-white sneakers..
He is physically shorter than average, often leading people at first glance to believe he's younger than he actually is.
Personality: Edwin is introverted, and usually prefers to keep to himself. He doesn't make friends easily, if only because he has a rather surly personality, but he tends to soften up (at least a little bit) to those whom honestly try to be friendly to him. He typically acts respectful to those with more power than him, if only because he knows it's not hard for someone to kick his ass in the real world, but true respect from him is given to those who can use their power effectively - for better or for worse. Deep down, he harbours regret for being such a spoilt brat as far as his parents were concerned, and losing that connection altogether as a result of his actions, but he won't admit that to anyone.
He is very aware of his physical weakness, and prefers to keep his fights at the end of a smoking barrel. If he is forced to get into a fight, he'd rather win as quickly as possible or get out of there as fast as possible. Carrying his shotgun does give him somewhat of a sense of security - but not a lot. Despite this, he has a fascination with guns, particularly shotguns. While not professionally trained, he has been able to teach himself a surprising amount of the inner workings of firearms (though without military training he only knows so much), and at least knows the basics of firearm maintenance, and is surprisingly skilled in using one for a non-militant.
While Edwin has only the barest amount of ability for or knowledge of anything magic, he is much more at home when it comes to technology. For the most part, this manifests as an better-than-average knowledge of the working of computers (with relation to hardware, software development and hacking/cracking electronic security), though he can get a quick grasp of the workings of most electronic technology. He prefers not to take to the field, instead being much more comfortable in a position of support, though he has worked in the field some rare times when a hacker is necessary.
He doesn't give much of a damn about racial background - he is surly and rude whether he is dealing with a human or hybrid. History is irrelevant to people whom are idiots, and he finds that humans can be just as violent and unkind as any demon can. However, he is much more tense around Church agents, due to past experiences with them - while he is able to work with them to some degree, any dealings he has to have with them leave him feeling very stressed. Even seeing the robed men can cause his muscles to ache slightly from memory alone.
He has a love for various synthwave and electro music, video games, and dark chocolate, and will often be indulging in one of those three things when at his 'home' and off-duty.
History:
Most of Edwin's childhood was spent growing up on a farm, which he found tremendously boring. While his father taught him to use weaponry, being an retired soldier, he felt his family were over-bearing. They meant well, but they often didn't seem to understand his introverted nature - the more they tried to push him to do things, the less he wanted to do with anyone. He didn't hate his parents, in particular - he just preferred having his personal space, away from them.
When Edwin's parents bought a computer, Edwin was almost unable to keep himself away from it. His parent's repeated attempts to keep him off it and 'go outside' only made him more determined to sneak back on and do it. He'd often do this into late nights, while they slept, and connection to the Internet only brought on a love of computers and learning more about technology then anyone could have ever dreamed. He was almost addicted to learning everything and anything that he could find.
When he had the chance to, with regretful blessing from his parents, he moved to the big city, quickly setting himself up in an apartment, keeping himself sustained by going from odd job to odd job and making a surprising amount of money, spent only on necessities and his computer. He ended up having less and less contact with his parents as he got further and further drawn into the life of the big city...he failed to notice how the calls from his family grew less and less.
Meanwhile, across the Internet, Edwin connected with a small group of like-minded digital enthusiasts spread across the world, and together they started a small hacker crew. They called themselves the '4ourth Wheels', and made themselves out to be frontiers of information gatherers in a digital age – really, they were nothing more than curious hackers, rarely causing any wide-spread mischief (there was rumours that one of the members made an ATM start spewing out money somewhere in Canada, but if that’s the case no-one’s telling), but rather gathering what information they could, addicted to the rush and the risk of finding out what nobody else knew. Digital enthusiasts, they learnt as they went, developing and creating new hacking software just for themselves, never as good as the pros but just enthusiastic enough about finding out hidden secrets. Edwin felt like some kind of conspiracy journalist, even if he would never have the guts to go and leak any of this information…
And then one day there was an unexpected knock at his door. When Edwin answered, he found himself at the wrong end of two revolvers, and politely asked to come with the two strange men in robes holding them. He was blindfolded and taken to a ‘safe-house’ for questioning of some seemingly unimportant conspiracy data that the 4ourth Wheels had stumbled onto, regarding the Christian religion, or at least some hidden sub-culture of it. Edwin himself had found it curious, but not particularly interesting, even if the group had decided to delve further into it.
At first Edwin was assured that he was being kept here for his benefit, as well as for the sake of keeping his friends safe – after all, if word of what this group of the Church (which Edwin would later learn to be the "Judas' Order") was fighting, it could cause panic and chaos. However, as time went past, and the questions that Edwin was asked became more similar to interrogations, Edwin knew that they were just looking to kill him, and that they’d probably already killed the other members, or at least would soon, and there was nothing he could do about it.
After some more brutal attempts at ‘interrogation’ to get him to talk – and learning that Edwin really knew nothing – the robed men were prepared to kill him in order to make sure no knowledge of the Church’s action escaped. Edwin should have died, but by his own admission he was saved by ‘blind dumb luck’ – a sudden demon attack nearby forced the Church agents to divert and deal with that first. Edwin managed to slip his bonds and, in a desperate bid for survival, fled through the battlefield while the robed men and the demon were fighting. He barely escaped that time, and went through as many connections as he could to try and find somewhere to lay low for as long as possible.
Going through so many connections, his attempts to hide brought him to the attention of the IACSB. They managed to get in contact with him, assuring him that they could not only give him protection from the Church, but also work with technology that was vastly superior to anything the world had ever seen – of course, only if he wanted. While Edwin didn’t exactly believe they were the noble soldiers that they made themselves out to be, they at least weren’t pointing a gun and threatening to shoot him either, so he arranged a meeting.
Through the screening, while he was shown to be physically weak and barely have any magical ability, his skills with technology and hacking were unquestionable, and so he was hired as an IACSB agent – but alas, he didn’t learn what that entailed until later. Edwin had to hide his continued existence from the rest of the world in order to continue working for, and receiving the protection of the IACSB. As far as the rest of the world knew, Edwin Melchiott was dead. For the most part he was fine with that – but it also meant that he could never again have any contact with his family - whom by this point thought he was dead – for their own safety. It was the first time he realised, even surrounded by a group who appreciated his ability, just how alone he truly was.
And so, with no other option left to him, Edwin studies technology in a bid to try and stay useful to his employers and keep surviving just as long as he can.

Spiritual Armament
Name: Ciara
Rank: E
Weapon Appearance: A large, black surveillance van, similar to the 'typical' FBI surveillance van. The inside of the van is seated to fit about five people comfortably, though seven could fit in at most. The van contains the typical comforts of any car - AM/FM radio, CD/MP3 player and the like - but also contain highly specialised electronics and equipment designed by the IACSB. In inclusion to having a constant connection to the Internet no matter where on Earth the van might be, the van is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic surveillance equipment, as well as specialised equipment for tracking daemonic and supernatural phenomenon. Ciara is able to 'read' this technology herself, though it is unclear whether or not she understands what it all is.
Miscellaneous Appearance: None (see Vehicle Appearance)
Spirit Appearance:
A Dullahan, typically with a great black horse nearby (though the horse can be summoned or unsummoned at will).
Her skin is a strange blue colour, with blue-white hair in strange bangs, and piercing yellow eyes. She typically wears a simple set of clothes like the one above, but when necessary she can instantly change into heavy black armour that covers her entire body.
Despite her imposing stature, she's only a head taller than Edwin. She usually has a neutral, somewhat stern look on her face, but the full effect is often lost as she tpically tends to hold her head underneath her arm.
She often carries a scythe with her, and is quite adept at using it, though this she can also summon and unsummon at will. It doesn't seem like it's made of any earthly material, but whatever it's made of she doesn't seem to be answering any questions about it.
Description: Ciara is relatively young for a Dullahan. She is usually quite serious, but when she's indulging in her hobby - going as fast as possible - she seems to become more carefree and excitable, which seems closer to her true personality. She can occasionally get flustered, however.
While she has no idea why she would be joined with such a person as Edwin, she thinks there is something intriguing about him. The two however tend to typically argue, especially due to Edwin's lazy and reserved personality conflicting with her more serious and active one.
Despite typically being considered part of the Unseelie court, she seems to be working with the IACSB for her own reasons, which haven't been determined yet. Whenever asked directly about them she merely deflects the question, ignores it, or gives half-truths to the situation.
Equipment:
Name: Mossberg 500 Persuader shotgun
Rank: E
Description: A powerful 12-gauge pump-action shotgun. Despite showing signs of wear and tear it is in almost amazingly good condition. Aesthetically there are few mods on it, though the inner workings have been altered in order to allow for the firing of Incendiary Rounds and 'more powerful' ammo that the I.A.C.S.B. have been developing. It is a close-range weapon, average at mid-range and useless at long range. It is relatively simple to operate, though it can be difficult to deal with the recoil with more powerful ammunition, and reloading individual shells is slow and leaves the wielder open to counter-attack. This weapon is powerful enough that even common shotgun ammunition, at close enough range, can at least stun most lower-rank demons. This is Edwin's favourite weapon, and it is usually not far from him, even at headquarters on I.A.C.S.B. Don't touch his boomstick.
Edwin can carry up to a maximum 48 shotgun shells, of which a maximum 6 of these can incendiary rounds, without risking blowing up in his pocket. He usually carries about 30 on a mission, unless it's known to be a particularly dangerous one, 6 of those shells being incendiary 'just in case'. Even in casual settings, he can usually hide about 8 shotgun shells on his person which can usually work with just about any standard shotgun for emergencies - 2 of these are incendiary, but they can only be fit into I.A.C.S.B.-modified shotguns without blowing up the weapon they're contained in.
Name: Incendiary Rounds
Rank: E
Description: Firearm ammunition which contains incendiary compounds that ignite on impact with hard surfaces. Such rounds are useful when dealing with supernatural entities with a weakness to flames, especially vampires. Typically IACSB members bring only two magazines of this ammunition suitable for their firearms, given they are prone to unwarranted damage.
Name: Body Armor
Rank: E
Description: A protective ballistic vest which is worn over the chest and torso; although variations have been made for the supernatural entities whom are not quite so… humanoid. While still somewhat tough, it does not mean that they are going to be completely protected from the real monsters in the supernatural world. At best covers the internals and important organs while leaving the limbs unprotected for maximum mobility. This is normally worn when units are sent in important tasks where mortality rate maybe high, or even in a major operation.
Name: Radio
Rank: E
Description: Basic radio assigned to each unit to communicate with the administration and control of the operation. Typically it is designed as a wireless earpiece receiver and microphone combination, but often lower ranking members end up with older generation equipment such as ones that rely on hip-mounted controls and batteries. These radios work off of the IACSB’s encrypted radio channel, and are unable to pick up other channels without being tempered with. Ideally they can pick up transmissions from about 30km around in an urban environment; but in a clear area they can pick up transmissions at range around 40km.
Name: Field Laptop
Rank: E
Description: A portable computer developed for use in the field, designed to be resistant to most external physical damage, such as physical impact or water - though it is still vulnerable to EMPs. Comes loaded with a variety of programs designed by the IACSB's top technological minds - as well as a few programs of Edwin's own creation - for use in accessing, crackling and/or scrambling electronic security. Is constantly connected on a scrambled channel to the IACSB, as well as an access to high-speed Internet, accessible anywhere the sky can be seen and in most indoor areas, though it can have problems if deep underground or surrounded by large amounts of electronic interference. All traffic accessed through a field laptop is sent back to the IACSB. Comes with various cables and tools for physical access to most electronics.
Name: Prescription Glasses
Rank: E
Description: Glasses to correct Edwin's vision problems. The lenses are specifically made for Edwin to correct his short-sighted vision, and are strapped to his neck. When not wearing them, he struggles to see more than a few feet beyond him. Some requests to the I.A.C.S.B. have made the glasses and lens physically resistant, so they will not break unless subjected to overwhelming force. However, besides this, they are not magical or technologically advanced in any manner.
Uniforms:
Name: Trenchcoat and Suit
Description: A formal dress shirt and pants that is worn to work whether in the office or on the field. On the field, typically a thick pale grey trenchcoat is worn over this attire alongside boots. In more dangerous areas and assignments, the agent’s ballistic vest is usually worn over the suit jacket as well. While on formal occasions it is expected for IACSB members to wear the full uniform, on the actual field they are not required to wear the outfit at all if they choose not to.
Name: Riot Suit
Description: Military-like uniform that is worn for major operations, which is required by all IACSB personnel when it comes to serious engagements; although some higher ranking members may wear their own battle attire. This is made up of black fatigues with a ballistic vest and leg guards over the top, with a military tactical rig topping it off. While they look similar to SWAT armour, they tend to be more minimalist as many of the IACSB rely on their supernatural abilities and thus do not need the extra weight.
